Perth and surrounds is very warm and dry, flat and stretched out along the coast with just over two million people. Consider that Australia has just over 23 million in total.
Visited Freemantle which is the port city of Perth. A lively market, fun historic statues and delicious fish & chips. Snapper is extra good for this. The best doughnuts ever from the market, very messy eating.
Elizabeth Quay is very new and lovely, and the cow festival got us hunting cows 🐄 found eight plus us.
Lastly coffee at Kings park, what a view!
Tuesday I spent on Rottnest island. Quokka are the cutest, they are all over the island. These beauties were close to the Wadjamup lighthouse. Photogenic and very very curious 😄 It's quite hard to take a close shot of something that wants to inspect your camera. They didn't bite.
Glorious view from the lighthouse, 155 steps up, went outside on the landing (!) and (with stops to breathe and swallow) 155 steps down. Fear of heights/open steps took a beating!
West End is just that, the west most tip of Rottnest. Good walkways, a 40 cm (estimated) lizard that wanted my lunch - we swapped places inside the shelter 5 times. Birds the size of a matchbox and sweating seals. And flies while you wait for the bus 😯
Rottnest is windy, tie down your cap/hat, the boat from Hilary made the passage very smoothly. Hop on/off bus or bikes on the island. Last glimpse of the island was from the flight to next and last stop - the mainland is not far off, just visible at upper left.
Anna was the best part though, hard to leave her. Here's us two cows at the airport with its Christmas decoration.
Games: Fallout shelter 55 inhabitants! iPad.
